I grew up in Central Texas a long time ago. Most of the time our family lived on a ranch. My brother and I rode horses, herded cattle, sheep and goats, fed chickens and taught orphan calves how to drink from a bucket. One of my favorite things to do when I wasn’t in school or doing chores was climb a live oak tree, sit on a wide branch with a book, and read for hours.
